Broadband Wireless Magazine - WisperTel Acquires Quicksilver Connect

In Wisper Telecommunications Inc. (WisperTel) has acquired Quicksilver Connect Inc., a Colorado-based wireless Internet service provider (WISP).
Quicksilver serves customers in the I70 corridor, Evergreen and Conifer, Colo. areas, as well as customers in the southwestern Denver metropolitan area.
The acquisition deal increases WisperTel’s subscriber base and will enable WisperTel to become the “largest wireless broadband Internet provider” in the Denver metro area, according to Barry Pier, WisperTel’s president and CEO.
With the acquisition, Quicksilver’s customers will be able to obtain symmetrical broadband Internet access service at up to 8 Mbps. In addition, WisperTel has launched a voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) offering.
The VoIP offering, called WisperTEL-E-phone, costs $19.95 per month and includes voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, three-way calling and 3¢ per minute long distance.
WisperTel’s broadband wireless access offerings include residential services starting at $34.95 per month and commercial services starting at $69.95 per month.
WisperTel provides services to bedroom communities outside the Denver metro area along Colorado’s Front Range. It currently has nearly 2,000 subscribers, according to an announcement issued by the company.
